Our Final Family Photoshoot of 2012

A couple of days before Christmas our cousin Rakeem was kind enough to carve out some time to take a few family photos for us. I ended up forgetting the Little Miss’ dress and we had to turn around and head back home (fortunately my mom was visiting and she met us off of the freeway with it). Later I discovered I forgot her headband too. I forgot a lot of things that morning but in the end we got our family photos and that’s all that matters:)

Rakeem took a few photos of us during my pregnancy which you can see here and he took photos for my baby shower. I know I have mentioned several times here that  I will post shower pics, they are absolutely beautiful, and I will (I really will) but for now I’d like to share these:

Had we done them earlier that first one might have graced a holiday card. It happens to be the Mr.’s favorite. It is crazy to see how much our Littlest has grown since Christmas. Crazy! This year I am making an effort to be in more photos with my family, whether they be taken by a professional or selfies while out in about. I don’t always like the way I look in photos but I am realizing more and more how unimportant that is. One day my girls will look back and be happy that they have photos of them and their parents. And they will most likely love the candid ones, the ones that capture moments, and feelings. Because, seriously, how great is it to look at a photo and have your heart flood with the same joy you felt years ago when you first took it?

  1. I love all the pictures!

  2. You all have such beautiful smiles, I love everyone!

    • Oops! That should have read “every”-“one”, as in all the pictures ;-) although I’m sure to fall in love with your family if we ever do meet in “real life”. I need to work on my editing before I post.
I really enjoy reading your words/thoughts, especially your article on the Obamas.

      • I knew what you meant Petra. Although you can’t ever have enough love right?! Thank you so much for your kind comments :)

  3. I said the same thing. I am always behind the camera and I don’t have nearly that many pictures of my children with me in it. My mother passed a few years ago and I don’t have any photos with her and I because she didn’t like to take photos. Note taken in 2013. You all look wonderful.

    • Hi Mimi! I don’t know why I worry so much about them having a bunch of photos of me looking a little rough around the edges :) I am sorry for your loss but admire the fact that out of it you came to see how important it is for you to capture some moments with your children rather than just of them. Thank you for your kind words.
