This weekend our Little Miss blessed me in so many ways. Her words, although spoken more clearly than they were years ago, remain precious. Her words are comforting to my heart and soothing to my soul except for when she is whining or suffering from a bad attitude :) Oh yes, at 7 those moments are ever present but we’re working on it. And because actions speak louder than words I couldn’t help but be moved by many of them too…
Do you want some of my recess daddy? (referring to Reese’s peanut butter cups)
Asking us to hold hands and pray around the Christmas tree starting off her prayer – “Dear Jesus thank you…”
(Yes Jesus. Thank you!)
Writing a thank you letter to Santa and saying she hopes he has a “safe trip back”.
Climbing into the bed Christmas morning and smiling at her parents simply because we are her parents and that makes her happy. (We’re pretty excited about that too!)
After opening presents “It’s ok mommy I’ll have two.” vs. I already have this, after realizing that one of the books mommy bought was a book nana had already purchased.
Offering me the rest of her drink during a car ride despite being “really thirsty”
Sitting beside her daddy while he watched the game on television reading him the Bible.
Climbing in under the covers with me and insisting that our legs and feet “touch” so she can feel “warm and close” to me.
Simply being her mommy blesses me so but her words, her kindness, empathy and gratitude are what touches my heart, restores my hope and makes me think perhaps I, perhaps we – are doing something right.Tweet
