{Hers} Red Velvet Hot Chocolate

Last week a friend of ours told the Little Miss and I about Red Velvet Hot Chocolate available at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.  Genius!  It was the first time I had ever heard of it and from the moment I heard about it I knew I had to try it.  Well, this Monday the Little Miss and I celebrated the first day of winter break conversing over hot cocoa – Red Velvet Hot Cocoa to be exact.  We loved it so much in fact that we went back for seconds this evening.  In our house hot cocoa is regularly consumed over cuddles and conversation, especially during the winter months and I love the idea of a new way of enjoying a favorite treat.
ONE, TWO, THREE
My friend Jackie has taught me that there is always a {often very delicious} recipe online for whatever I pay {often too much} for which means I can still enjoy specialty drinks as often as I’d like and for much less than I would pay for them at the coffee shop.  So after a googling “Red Velvet Hot Chocolate” I came across this recipe (and several others).  I imagine you can easily substitute the whole milk if you’d like.  We are almond milk drinkers around here and use it in everything we cook that calls for milk, so far so good.
I’m pretty sure we’ve got some chocolate morsels in the kitchen which means this weekend Red Velvet Hot Cocoa will be making a comeback only this time prepared by yours truly.
xo.

p.s. Ever tried Red Velvet Hot Cocoa?

Oh my goodness. I’m laughing out loud at my desk, which is never a sign of doing my work! I have a peppermint hot chocolate post scheduled to go in about an hour. Great minds think alike! :) I’ve been on such a hot chocolate kick this winter so I look forward to trying your red velvet recipe too. It sounds yummy!

Aw! What a cutie. I had to say that again. Anyway, Red Velvet Hot Cocoa? Mind explosion! That sounds awesome. Red Velvet is my favorite cake, so I’ve got to try this recipe. Oh, BTW, I’m an almond milk only gal, too. It makes a mean bowl of perfect oatmeal.

Aww thank you!! So sweet of you! It really was delicious although being a huge fan of red velvet cake myself I might be a little biased ;) If you don’t make it at least try it at Coffee Bean! Then tell me what you think :) It is supposed to be “seasonal”…
