{Hers} a tickle and tea

Early this morning I woke up with a tickle in my throat.  And tonight here I sit still with a tickle in my throat.  What I’ve learned over the fast few years of being a mommy is that when my daughter is sick I tend to get sick too.  Why?   Because I never turn down her kisses, always let her taste my drink and even when she is sick and wants to cuddle or seeks a hand to hold I am delighted to oblige.  I  could not imagine not wanting to be on the receiving end of such genuine sweet love.  As a result and possibly because I don’t always remember to take my vitamins I almost always find myself waking up early in the morning with a tickle in my throat just days after taking care of my sick mini me.

Right now I am seeing my glass as half full (half full with orange juice sounds nice right about now) and am thankful that I am not nearly as sick as my sweet little {big} girl was and am crossing my fingers that my symptoms will not progress beyond this sore throat of mine.

I have decided that now that the Little Miss is asleep I will be a woman of few words. Just for tonight. Its my Mr’s lucky night! It’s starting to hurt to talk and therefore I type.  I used the rest of my words to read a bedtime story to my daughter and say our prayers.

Tonight I am seeking comfort in the form of chamomile tea and chocolate chip cookies.  Nothing soothes my throat more than tea with honey and while I’m sure the cookies probably aren’t the best remedy for my current ailment my Mr. made them (break and bake! Woop woop!). Sweets from my sweet?! Yes. Please.

{cookies & chamomile}

When our Little Miss was sick she found comfort in holding my hand.  When I am sick I find comfort in my bed, warm tea (because if it burns my tongue it’s no longer soothing), a good love story (movie or tv series.  I’m not that picky) and the sound of my little one praying for her mommy (she prays for me when I don’t feel well!  It’s the sweetest!).  I also tend to miss my mom even more when I’m under the weather.   The Mr., who fortunately rarely gets sick, finds comfort in being left alone ( only when sick of course:).  What about you? What gives you comfort when you aren’t feeling your best?

I’m going to need to come up with a game plan for tomorrow because I can’t spend the day giving everyone the silent treatment.  Although I love it,  chamomile makes me sleepy and today at work I tried green tea and gummy bears and although I love gummy bears that combo didn’t really do it for me.  So my dear lovelies and handsomes if you re out there I’d love to learn how you find comfort when you’re under the weather.

Be well.  KB.

    Sorry to her you are not feeling well! When I’m feeling a sickness coming on, I power up on Vitamin C (Emergen-C is great, or any of those vitamin loaded flavored water bottles). Rest and plenty of liquids too. Hope you feel better soon!
