{Hers} My Culinary Challenge

When it comes to the culinary arts my artistic abilities are pretty much nonexistent.  Markets such as Trader Joe’s and Fresh & Easy have been my saving grace.  One of the things that I love about them is that they allow me to get a head start on meal preparation by making items available for purchase such as seasoned meats, bagged veggies that can be steamed in the microwave – easily cooked to perfection in 3 minutes or less, and pastas that merely need to be sautéed in the pan…I could go on, nevertheless; ever so often I decide that I am up for a small challenge. Now I realize how that sounded but trust, not everything I cook comes frozen or in a bag.

Isn't this apron darling? Belongs to the Little Miss. Sadly, not my size.

As a child one of my favorite pastimes was baking.  I loved making cookies from scratch and would often try to create my own recipes.  At the time adding Nestle Quick mix to my pancake batter seemed like the most logical way to make chocolate pancakes.

As I became an adult my love for baking faded and my disdain for cooking in general grew. Even so, being a parent made cooking absoultely necessary.  Luckily the little miss was easy to please especially when it came to dessert.  Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines – we heart you.

Ok so here goes my challenge – I’m kind of stepping my game up.  I’m making something new, meaning I’ve never made it before but have I eaten it?  Oh yes.  I’m using familiar ingredients – the key one being a box of Betty Crocker cake mix.

And now because I have told you of my plan I actually feel accountable and therefore must produce.  So my friends I will return and when I do I will let you know just what I did with  that box of cake mix.  On the other hand if I disappear for a few days you’ll probably have a few ideas as to what I didn’t do with it…

    LOL Krishann,
I know how you feel. Jamaal taught me how to cook and it was fun at first…now I hate it! It’s such a chore!!!! It would be easier if I could grab pre packaged foods BUT the Mr. Likes everything fresh! I hate it! LOL, anywho I like trying new stuff, we usually get stuck eating the same dishes week after week. I enjoy when Jamaal comes home with a new recepie in mind. I guess I shouldn’t complain about a man that enjoys fresh cooked meals :-)

Haha.  Glad I’m not alone! I like when Chris brings home new recipes too but not for me to cook them!  We have a few go to meals but it is nice to change things up from time to time and try something new and he actually enjoys cooking which means I hit the jackpot!!! Cha ching!  I mean we take turns and all but ever so often he will let me off the hook an extra day….
      Now that’s love.
