Each year on the 20th of May I sit staring blankly at a birthday card trying to find the perfect words to express what is felt in my heart. Each year I excitedly watch as she reads her card with such anticipation all the while, me knowing, that regardless of what words I use to describe my love and admiration for her, or how many times she’s read those words over the years, she still will very likely be moved to tears. Happy tears. I am almost certain that the words that I write are not all that profound and yet because they are my words and she is my mommy in her eyes there are no sweeter words than the ones written by her child (except maybe those written by her grandchild).
And so it is our heart’s delight to wish you a Happy Birthday! You are an amazing mother, nana, and friend. May your day be filled with love, laughter, and joy and come nighttime may your belly be full with birthday cake.
In honor of your special day Jalayla and I would like to dedicate this song to you.

Thank you! Okay I didn’t expect to have tears in my eyes at 6:00 a.m. on my birthday, but I do and they are tears of joy. I cannot put into words the love and joy that all three of you bring to my life. And, it’s not just because it’s my birthday but it’s is everyday and for that I am grateful. I have no doubt that I am loved. The greatest gift I ever received was Jesus as my Lord and Savior and next would be the gift of my family and friends. Thank you Briscoe family—you make me proud :)
